Should Juveniles Be Tried as Adults?

This is a very difficult ethical and legal question. As a parent, I would never want my child being held responsible for a crime that he was not aware of doing. We’ve all done things we are not proud of when we were teenagers. There are times when I look back and thank my stars that I managed to get through teenage years without losing my or anyone else’s life or limbs. Mercifully, we managed to come out all right and I do feel that children should be granted that right. Juveniles Be Tried as Adults? Yes, times have changed. Take the case of Nathaniel Brazill, all of 14-years-old, charged with the murder of his English teacher. The charge was second-degree murder and if it was enforced, it could have resulted in a 30 year jail sentence. The case is still on but Nathaniel’s defense team is optimistic that an understanding sentence may be imposed on the child-man. Another case that was on at the same time, resulted in 12=year-old Lionel Tate being sentenced to life without parole for the killing of a young girl while practicing wrestling moves. For

Assisting Troubled Teenagers or Troubled Youth

There is so much that people do not particularly understand when it comes to the issue of troubled teenagers and how to best deal with them or assist them . This is mainly due to the fact that most individuals are under the impression that only adults experience stress or depression. The fact of the matter is that anyone can be dealt a hard blow. This is despite the fact that you are a teenager or an adult. Where it differs now is that an adult is most likely to be in a better position than a troubled youth in terms of how to best handle stressful situations. Basically, it all comes down to how to help troubled teenagers. The mistake which a lot of people make is to judge them first. Just like adults react to various judgmental remarks made by other people; so do teenagers. Whereas an adult might somehow try to get over it, a teenager might not be better placed to deal with such remarks based on levels of maturity and general frame of mind. So the starting point is to stop judging them and try

Are Juvenile Crimes On An Increase?

In fact that more than 60% of teenagers in the US have committed some form of offense before they turn 18. What is Causing This Rise in Juvenile Crimes? It’s not really possible to blame a single causative factor for the problem. Researchers believe that individual risk factors are the main causative factor for the problem. Peer pressure, family environment, lack of rules and supervision, criminal siblings, peer rejection, difficulty in adapting to different situations, poverty, low intelligence, individual or family psychological problems and even language delays resulting in poor peer interaction could be the reason by teenagers resort to crimes and violence.
