This is a very difficult ethical and legal question. As a parent, I would never want my child being held responsible for a crime that he was not aware of doing. We’ve all done things we are not proud of when we were teenagers. There are times when I look back and thank my stars that I managed to get through teenage years without losing my or anyone else’s life or limbs. Take the case of Nathaniel Brazill, all of 14-years-old, charged with the murder of his English teacher. The charge was second-degree murder and if it was enforced, it could have resulted in a 30 year jail sentence. The case is still on but Nathaniel’s defense team is optimistic that an understanding sentence may be imposed on the child-man.
